Jen Terry and Bob fly back to Australia today.
Carol baby sitting Carter and Maddie, the we went and had some lunch with Susan at Phoenix Steak House down town Vernon.  Dave and Liz came for supper Dave cooked a Very hot Thai Curry and nice salad.

Have spent the day getting ready for our caravan trip tomorrow.

KOKANEE

DAY 12
22nd August 2011 Monday



Left Vernon for Kokanee Provincial Park.  We stopped off at Kaslo where they have a paddle steamer called SS Moyie.  We crossed Arrow Lake on the car ferry.
Kootanee PP was very nice alogside Lake Kootenay. There was a stream there full of salmon.

WATERTON NATIONAL PARK

DAY 13
23rd August 2011 Tuesday


We traveled from Kokanee PP to Waterton NP what a difference very ordinary with campers packed in, very dry.  Spectacular mountains all around.  We saw some deer on our way and when we arrived.




We crossed Lake Kootenay by car ferry, on our way we stopped at Fort Steele (steam railway museum).  At Sparwood we saw the worlds largest dump truck The Titan..

We also saw lots of wind farms when we crossed the border into Alberta.  Country is quite different dryer and flater.


We also saw the Frank Slide which occurred in 1903 30 million cubic metres of lime stone came crashing down fro Turtle Mountain and buried part of the town of Frank.

DAY 14
24th August 2011  Wednesday

We went for a drive to Red Rock Canyon, and a walk along some hiking trails this morning.  After lunch Ted and Richard went for a bike ride to the information centre and a hike up to Bear's Hump while Carol and I had a laz  back at the camper read and napped a bit.  When Ted and Richard got back from their bike ride poor Ted was just about to expire as it was a long time since he had ridden a bike!   When the boys had had a sleep and revived we went for a walk into  the village and around Lake Waterton beautiful views.  Saw some deer and ground squirrels .

DAY 15
25th August 2011  Thursday
weather fine and warm




In the morning we went to Cameron Lake and went for a 3k walk along the lake. Lots of wild flowers only 1 squirrel. Went back to camp for lunch had a rest and then went into the village to do some washing and Richard and Ted went to the internet cafe Zums. Back to camp to pick up Carol then off to The Prince of Wales Hotel for cocktails and a look around. Back to camp for supper.
Tomorrow we are off to Dinosaur Provincial Park.
