2011 TRIP TO CANADA

HIGHFIELDS BRISBANE CALGARY

DAY 1
11th August 2011


Left home for Brisbane airport at 4.10 am by airport bus.  Plane left for LA at 10.55am arrived 7am had to wait until 3pm for flight to Calgary. (still arrived 7pm Thursday been a long Thursday).
We were tired by the end of the journey. Booked into the 5 Down Town Suites, nice large room with kitchen dated but comfortable enough, has restaurant we had dinner there.  Has 28 floors.

12th August 2011 Friday

went for a walk down town took train out to Crowsfoot.

DAY  3
13th August 2011 Saturday

Had breakfast with Jen Terry Elise and Jeff. Then went on the tramway to Marlborough to Asian markets.  Had rest , in the afternoon went for a walk down to river and big park.  We had dinner down in China Town with Jen Terry Carol Richard and Bob.

THE WEDDING DAY CALGARY

The wedding day has arrived.  We went to the Zoo in the morning quite large very warm about 29c. We rested up then set out for the wedding. The wedding was in the grounds at the zoo very nice. They had peacock feathers for corsages and the peacocks actually turned up walking across in the middle of the ceremony. A bit of drama at the end of ceremony on of the groomsmen fainted. (Something for the bride and groom to tell in years to come.!

DAY 5
15th August 2011  Monday

We are on our way to Vernon today with Richard and Carol by car.
We arrived at Vernon 7pm having left Calgary 10am. Nice scenery on the way rained but was fine on arriving at Vernon.
We saw kicking horse rail tunnel on our way.  They are tunnels on the side of a mountain ,we saw a very long goods train go in the top tunnel and then come out the bottom tunnel still with the end carriages still showing at the top.  Some of the mountains still have snow on the top.

Richard and Ted have gone down town Vernon to do some chores, Carol and I will go later. Their caravan is very nice and roomy.

Went shopping at farmers markets.  Late afternoon Jen Terry Elise and Jeff arrived with Susan and children for supper and pool party

We went for lunch at Grey Monk winery.  Very nice with fantastic views. On way home stopped off at Sparkling Hill Resort owned by Swarovski family.
