DAY ONE.


We left Highfields at 7.30am and arrived at Injune 2pm. Had lunch at The Royal Hotel Roma. A good trip not much traffic but the roads could be better!!  Very dry from Roma to Injune. A lot warmer then Highfields think I will change into some shorts.

Left Injune this morning weather cool and overcast. Had morning tea at Springsure at a nice coffee/gift shop.  Springsure  sits with a backdrop view of a rock formation called The Virgin Rock. We ended up camping at Alpha, a big caravan park. We had a very light shower of rain this afternoon.  We saw a Bustard, Eagles and Kangaroos today .

Travelled to Longreach today morning tea at Barcaldine.  Staying at Longreach Tourist Park a very big Caravan Park more then 200 sites. No grass and not much shade but otherwise nice enough. Weather fine, cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons

27th August 2018 Monday

At Longreach this morning, visited Australian Stockman's Wall Of Fame.  We have some very friendly Brolgas at the CP park. Found a wet area down the bottom end of the park where they hang out.

28th August 2018 Tuesday


At Winton today had a good walk around town and the Matilda Centre.
We are staying in the same caravan park we stayed in 2014 Matilda Family Caravan Park. Big dinosaur still there but no Alpaca.

29th August 2018  Wednesday


We are at Cloncurry for 2 nights staying at              Discovery Holiday Park quite nice.

Visited the Information Centre, drove around town did some food shopping, then back to the caravan for a rest.

DAY 7
30th August 2018

Went to visit where Mary Kathleen mine  was situated and small township would not make a special trip to see it.  lot of free campers  there. Nothing there anymore.


Stopped off at the lookout and came across a lovely spot Chinaman Creek Dam. A little oasis in a dry landscape.
